This project is dedicated to the memory of my father William Edwards Sr. the biggest patriot I‘ve ever known.
As a young man of 17, he proudly served in the Navy as a Seabee aboard the USS NEW JERSEY during WWII in Okinawa, and then again in the navy during the Korean War. Up until his death in 2012, he volunteered over 8,000 hours at the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida where he lived.
There’s was nothing that made him prouder than to help the young men and women who gave so much to their country on a daily basis. By his example, I learned to respect and honor everyone who has ever put on the uniform and put themselves in harm's way on our behalf. I felt the need to use the musical connections I’ve made over the years to start this project in my Dad’s name and kind of pick up the ball in his honor. I know he would be proud of my efforts to make this grow every year and raise both awareness and funds for the true American heroes, that he cared so much about. Some of the friends he made doing this have now become my friend, such as the folks at Veterans Adaptive Sports.
My Dad touched the lives of everyone he met, and I hope the work he did can trickle into our own daily lives. When you see someone that has served, it costs you nothing to take a moment to thank them for their service and let them know they are appreciated. We have the freedoms we enjoy because of the bravery is shown by the men and women who have given everything while serving our country.
This project is purposely nonpolitical and is strictly about the Veterans.
Thanks Dad,I miss you greatly but through this project, your memory lives on. I hope I make you proud.
